Gel Stain

Moderate Wear

If a door has light to moderate wear and fading, the use of gel stain may be necessary.

Sanding and prep work

We will do a moderate to heavy sand on the door to clean up the surface and remove any flaking varnish.

Once it has been dusted we can apply an oil stain to any exposed wood.

Gel Stain application

Then gel stain can be used on both bare and varnished surfaces.  It is used to blend out the damaged surfaces as well as bring color back to the door overall.

Varnishing

After the stain is dry, a coat of varnish is applied to seal and protect the door.  The door will need to remain open for 3 hours, longer if possible.

The entranceway is covered up with paper to keep dust, bugs, and sunlight off the doors while everything is drying.

After 3 hours you can close and lock your door. The paper will remain up until the next day.
