Maintenance

When a door is showing light wear, all it needs is a light sand and refinish to keep it looking beautiful. With a normal maintenance, all the work is done with the door hanging in place.

The door is lightly sanded to prepare it for varnish. The surface must be sanded to make sure the varnish will bond completely. It is then dusted to have a clean surface. Now the door is ready for varnish.

Varnishing

After the varnish is applied, the door will need to remain open for 3 hours, longer if possible. This is to make sure the door does not seal up to the weatherstripping.

The entranceway is covered up with paper to keep dust, bugs, and sunlight off the door while everything is drying.

After 3 hours you can close and lock your door. The paper will remain up until the next day.
